What is World Breast Feeding Week?

World Breast feeding is celebrated annually from the 1st - 7th August with support from WHO, UNICEF, various Ministries of Health, and civil society partners. This global campaign aims to raise awareness about breastfeeding and it's benefits.

Each year there is a different theme, with 2024 looking at 'Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all'.

Breastfeeding has many benefits for you and your baby. Any amount of human milk is beneficial, it's free and it adapts and changes to meet the nutritional needs of your baby as it grows, for growth and development. It also adapts to the environment around your baby helping your baby to build a strong immune system, projecting them against infections and diseases.
The idea for Baby Nails came to me as I was breastfeeding my son. It was a time when he was happy and relax, but we often sat for long periods so it was a great time to multi-task too! I had previous struggled to trim his nails with baby clippers and read that filing is a safer method. I tried to file his nails using a regular nail file out of my bedside drawer but I couldn't cradle him and hold the nail file correctly. It just ended up on the floor, out of my reach!
By the time our patented wearable nail file was an actual product and no longer a concept, I was expecting our second child, therefore our daughter's nail care was fuss free. I would file using the Thumble® and feed with ease.
Baby Nails is a wearable baby nail file. Our Thumble®
is worn on the thumb with an adhesive nail file pad attached to it. It means you can hold your baby and file their nails whilst breastfeeding, without the worry of dropping it. Baby Nails is a safe and simple solution to baby nail care.
For more support about breastfeeding, the NHS and Start for life have lots of very useful online advice about support for breastfeeding, feeding position, a baby's latch etc. Remember to always ask for support to help you get your breastfeeding journey off to a good start.
